Darrell Revis: A Love Story

Its been a little more than a week now since John Idzik has taken the Geeneral Manager position for the New York Jets. Since then there have been rumors that the 4x pro bowl corner back, Darrelle Revis, is already on the chopping block. In my own opinion I have come up with some pretty good reasons to Keep him, and to trade him.

Why We Should Trade Him
  • Serious injury. Revis may not be as "shut down" as he's been in the past. As good as Darrelle is, he is only human. What happened with Adrian Peterson was a blessing in itself but every person is different, and Darrelle may never recover from it.

  • The salary cap. If we traded Darrelle it would free up some space in the salary cap, and allow the NY Jets to sign a few free agents, or even find the extra money to keep both safety's Laron Landry & Yeremiah Bell. Not to mention Darrelle Revis has one year left on his contract, and wants 50 million guaranteed.

  • What we would get for him. If we are sure we are trading Darrelle Revis the Jets need something worth his talent. There are many ways we could go about this, but what do the Jets need the most? If we're trading for draft picks, no doubt about it a first round pick, and third round pick...NOTHING LESS!!!! If we Trade for a player, we trade for a top flight established receiver, but that is not likely to happen.
Why We should Keep Him

  • He's Darrelle Revis! He is the best player in the Jets organization since Joe Namath. People who say a cornerback can't be your best player are just wrong. He is our Franchise player, and he has put in enough time to make that big contract, pending how he does during the 2013 Season.

  • His Play. The Jets Secondary did pretty good under Cromarties leadership this season. But when you put Revis in that secondary they are spectacular. Revis takes the best receiver and makes him obsolete from the game. Not only is he a shut down quaterback, but hes a pretty good tackler as well. He is very effective at stopping the run especially when those RB's get in the second level. He makes that secondary better. He makes the Jets Better

  • After next season if we do not sign Revis we could be in deep trouble. Darrelle Revis being a free agent is gonna make him feel like the prettiest lady at the ball. Teams will be pining over him to be on there team. As a Jets fan it would kill me to see him go to any of our division rivals, especially the Patriots. Not only do we let go of him but we have to face him twicw a season. Hell no, If Revis plays like Revis we sign him and Franchise him.
